Eagle Creek

What an incredible hike! The Eagle Creek trail led us through 16 miles of continual beauty...in one of the most scenic areas in the Gorge. The sun came out early that morning illuminating the waterfalls, shear cliffs, wildflowers, and old growth that accompanied our adventure! This is Oregon's road to Hana in my opinion... well worth the 12 hours, sore knees, and tired thighs. I would definitely encourage you to go explore this trail if you haven't had the chance!

May Hike 2009

Last month we climbed Kings Mountain! We were guided by our fearless leader, Donna, on a 5.5 mile trek up to 3226'. The climb was steep, gaining 1500' in elevation within 2 miles. We climbed 2800' over all. Our burning thighs were rewarded once at the top, however, by the view of the coastal range and the Wilson River canyon. The skies were clear that day, so we could see Saddle Mountain (highest in the coastal range)... and some of us even thought we could see the Ocean. The breath taking view was accompanied by sack lunches (including some delicious humus... thank you Jenae!)and a signing of the summit guest book.

It was great to make new friends, strengthen old friendships, and above all... see the splendor of our King!... On the mountain He created!

June's hike will be Ruckel Ridge in the Gorge... "strenuous", but always worth it!
